About me

Michala Naughton is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice is rooted in curiosity, material exploration, and a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. Born in midlands, she immersed herself in every form of art available from an early age, a drive that eventually led her to classical training as a figurative sculptor. She later earned a Fine Art degree from Bretton Hall, Leeds University, where her fascination with form, structure, and narrative became central to her work.

Her commitment to artistic exchange and cultural dialogue took her to Germany, where she represented Great Britain during a secondment at the Schwäbisch Gmünd Arts Festival. This experience broadened her understanding of collaboration and reinforced her belief in the power of shared creative practice. This inspired her to open her own gallery and support other fellow artists and what she believed in.

Throughout her career, Michala has worked across a wide range of creative industries. As a Charge Scenic and prop maker for theatre and outdoor productions, she developed a fluency in scale, texture, and visual storytelling. She later brought her artistic sensibility to renovation and theming projects for both private and commercial clients, often integrating bespoke commissioned artworks. These experiences deepened her interest in how objects, colour, and art can instantly shape the atmosphere of a space and suggest an underlying narrative.

This cross-disciplinary background continues to inform her evolving practice. Moving fluidly between fine art, design, and large‑scale creative problem‑solving, Michala approaches each new body of work with an openness to possibility. Her current artistic chapter embraces this freedom—unbound by medium, driven by material curiosity, and grounded in the belief that art can transform how we see, inhabit, and imagine the world.
